THE POSITION:

Transportation Manager

Full time position based in Hamblen County. Work involves administrative and technical work assisting with the daily administrative operations of a fixed-route bus service and public demand responsive transportation system for the agency within the Lakeway Metropolitan Area representing Morristown, Jefferson City, White Pine, and portions of Hamblen County and Jefferson Counties.  Activities associated with the job include planning, development and implementation of a consolidated public access transportation program for persons who are disabled, older adults and low income residents served by the agency's transportation program. Develops innovative methods to remove barriers for transportation to and from jobs and employment support services for individuals with disabilities. Additional activities include providing input on the ongoing development and implementation of transportation operating policies and procedures and submitting a variety of required reports to state and federal entities governing transportation services.

Provides direct outreach to area employers and employment agencies to gain support for employer and employee transit programs. Leads in the design of operational functions that are nontraditional in service delivery. Develops potential for future expansion of transit options across municipal boundaries. Serves as the liaison to community leaders in an effort to demonstrate how transportation enhances economic development

Annual Salary level beginning at $53,500 but commensurate based on education and experience.

THE REQUIREMENT:

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with an B.A. (B.S.) Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Transportation or related field; Thorough experience coordinating the activities of administrative and support staff; excellent decision making, analytical, and organizational skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; A minimum of two years' experience in mass transit operations or management or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience preferred.
